Double Drizzle Walnut Cookies {Evan's 1st place Bake-Off cookies 2014}


Recipe:

-1/2 cup butter, softened
-1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar 
-1 egg
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
-1 1/2 tsp baking powder
-1/4 tsp salt
-1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts, toasted

CARAMEL DRIZZLE:
-1/2 cup packed brown sugar
-1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
-1/2 cup powdered sugar

CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE:
-1/2 cup chocolate chips
-1 TBLS shortening

1. In large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar till light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt, gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
2. Shape dough into 1" balls; roll in nuts. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet, flatten slightly. Bake 350° for 10 minutes. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to cooling racks.
3. In small saucepan, bring brown sugar and cream to boil. Remove from heat, whisk in powdered sugar. Immediately drizzle over the cookies.
4. In small bowl, melt chocolate chips and shortening using double broiler. Drizzle immediately over cookies.  Let stand till set. Store in airtight containers. Yields: 30/cookies with small cookie scoop.

*Note*
Original recipe calls for 1 square (1ounce) semi sweet chocolate and I TBLS butter
